Supplier For Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Dusseldorf,

Aggreko, the global leader in
temporary power and temperature control solutions, was the official
supplier for power and temperature control for the 2011 Eurovision
Song Contest, which took place at the ESPRIT arena in Dusseldorf on
May 14th.
Aggreko successfully supported the
Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in Oslo and has a wealth of experience
in supplying uninterrupted temporary power and climate control for
major events throughout the world.
Six synchronised 1250 kVA gensets
were used to supply power for the stage, lighting and sound. The TV
compound was supplied with a further four synchronised gensets,
each with 500 kVA of power, with uninterrupted network switching to
the existing fixed grid, meaning that emissions and fuel
consumption were significantly reduced.
Five synchronised 500 kVA gensets
were used for the press centre, with power supplied to over 700
workstations, various studios and offices, a stage, a large lounge
area and for air-conditioning. The cooling capacity was 1.6 MW in
total. In addition, 55 commentary boxes in the arena were
individually air-conditioned. The challenge here was to find a
solution that, while being exceptionally quiet, used as little
space as possible.
Over 80 articulated lorries were
used to transport all of the equipment to the site, and 30 Aggreko
technicians installed a total of 85 km of power cables. Aggreko
also provided 24-hour support, with a four-member project team
planning and supervising the whole event.

Aggreko provides power and
temperature control solutions to customers who need them either
very quickly, or for a short or indeterminate length of time.
Examples would be the supply of power to an industrial site which
needs to service its permanent power supply, supplying a whole city
in times of power shortage, or providing a major sporting event
with power and cooling systems. We serve our customers either
through our 144 service centre’s, which we call the Local Business,
or globally through our International Power Projects business.
In the Local
business, which accounts for about half of our
revenues, we hire our equipment to customers, who then operate it
for themselves, although we retain responsibility for servicing and
maintaining it. In the
International Power Projects business, which
also accounts for about half of our revenues, we operate as a power
producer. We install and operate power plants and we charge our
customers both for providing the generating capacity, and for the
electricity we produce. We design and manufacture equipment
specifically for these requirements in our factory in Dumbarton,
Scotland.
Recent customers include the
Beijing 2008 Olympics, the Vancouver 2010
Olympics and the power utilities in over 50 countries
including the UK, France, Angola,
Kenya,
Indonesia, Bangladesh, Venezuela, Chile, Brazil and the
USA.

Sześć zsynchronizowanych generatorów o mocy

Centrum telewizyjne zostało wyposażone w kolejne cztery
zsynchronizowane generatory, każdy o mocy 500 kVa, tworząc
nieprzerwaną sieć przełączającą do istniejącej sieci stałej, co
oznacza, że znacząco obniżono emisję spalin i zużycie paliwa.
Pięć zsynchronizowanych generatorów o mocy 500
kVA zostało wykorzystane w centrum prasowym do zasilania ponad 700
stacji roboczych, studio i biur oraz sceny i klimatyzacji na dużej
powierzchni hali. Całkowita zdolność chłodzenia wyniosła 1,6 MW.
Ponadto 55 kabin komentatorskich posiadało możliwość indywidualnego
sterowania klimatyzacją. Wyzwaniem było znalezienie rozwiązania,
które nie generowałoby nadmiernego hałasu a jednocześnie zajmowało
jak najmniej przestrzeni.
Do przewiezienia wszystkich urządzeń
wykorzystano 80 ciężarówek. 30 wykwalifikowanych instalatorów
Aggreko przeprowadziło montaż 85 km kabli zasilających. Firma
Aggreko zapewniła również całodobowe wsparcie za pośrednictwem
czteroosobowego zespołu projektowego, który zajmował się
planowaniem i nadzorowaniem całej imprezy.
